Cobra, Vaal and GROHE products from LIXIL Africa feature in the Nigeria National Theatre remodel and upgrade

An exciting project being promoted by the Central Bank of Nigeria in association with the Bankers Committee has been taking place in Nigeria since the 14th of April 2021, the remodelling of the Nigeria National Theatre. A project that LIXIL Africa and the LIXIL Global Team have been excited and honoured to be a part of.

The anticipated completion date for the newly remodelled National Theatre situated in Iganmu, Lagos was planned out in three priority releases. Priority 1 and 2 for early use was set for November 2022, where the Vice President Commission visited the site; as well as the newly remodelled National Theatre to which made its debut with its first art exhibition in December 2022.

The third priority phase is for the remodelled National Theatre is set for March 2023.

This remodel and upgrade of the Nigeria National Theatre is planned to cater for international-level performing art spaces, dance, theatre, music and multimedia shows with adjustable acoustics and advanced and adaptable technical systems.

The National Theatre remodel, comprising of two 500-seater cinemas and a 4000-seater main bowl, is set to amount to approximately N21 billion, and creative industry experts have portrayed an exciting image of the final project.

Sustainability has been a key focus for the remodelling of this National Theatre, with provisions in place for the preservation of the surrounding natural ecosystem, as well as alleviating other environmental impacts that the project could have resulted in.

ECAD Architects, CA Consultants as well as VACC Technical LTD were the key architects and contractors for this exciting project.

Having previously worked with LIXIL Africa on the Circle Mall development, Mr Karim Abou Hassan’ from Vacc Technical wanted to use Cobra, Vaal and GROHE products again in the revamp of the Nigeria National Theatre, especially considering the payment term options.

LIXIL Africa in conjunction with the support from our Global team is honoured to have played a role in this significant project with the first phase of the project entailing an upgrade of the sanitary facilities and plumbing to meet international standards.
